Plant the Seed

Recently I had read in one of my homesteading groups about a woman’s 5-year-old who dropped seeds in random cracks in their yard while they were in a drought. She had long forgotten about them. Then the rains hit. She started seeing these little plants poking up from the ground in all the places her little one had dropped the seeds. She stated she had tried digging them up but failed because the roots were so deep and firmly planted where they were. I got a good laugh because honestly it sounds like something that would happen here with my little.

Fast forward a few days and I was on my morning walk. As usual, I’m listening to Barbara O’Neill drop some knowledge when ten minutes in, Spotify just stops working. I tried and tried to get it to play but had no luck. So I told God it was just me and Him now since Babs checked out on us. So I’m hustling, I’m sweating, He’s dropping people on my mind, and I’m praying. The walk goes on and we’re talking about some things that had recently occurred in my family when I round a corner and there is a crack in the dirt from this drought. My mind immediately goes back to the little girl dropping seeds when He tells me, “Just plant the seeds. I will water them. The roots will be deep and firmly set in place”. I stopped dead in my tracks and teared up. Not going to lie, I’m kind of teary-eyed now thinking about it.

So I’m here to tell you, PLANT THE SEED. In their drought, PLANT THE SEED. In your drought, let your people PLANT THE SEED. Let God water them. Those seeds will sprout and their roots will be firmly planted deep within. His promises are Yes and Amen and He is a good, good Father! He will never leave or forsake you!
