The Miracle That Hasn’t Happened… Yet

Throughout the seasons of life, we have two options: we can have an inward focus that is ultimately self-seeking and self-serving, OR we can choose to turn the attention and focus upward in such a way that seeks Him, serves Him, and praises Him in the waiting, in the pressing, in the cleansing.

Dig in and grow, or slow down and sulk? The path is yours for the choosing.

You know, God is a God of promises. And He is a God of fulfilled promises at that.

It can be easy to grow weary, impatient, self-piteous, or even apathetic when we take our eyes off His promise and fixate on what seemingly has not happened yet.

Do you know His thoughts are higher than ours and His ways are too?

If, in our seasons of waiting, we look inward, we will ultimately become prideful. We will think we are “too” something for God or “not enough” something for God, but His abilities are not conditional, friend. Both of these thought processes reveal pride in the heart.

Be reminded: there is but One God.

If, in our seasons of waiting, we look outward, we will ultimately become idolatrous. We will think the world is our source of fulfillment or our means of provision or a measuring point of spiritual standing. This could not be further from the case. God determines everything.

Be assured: there is but One God.

If, in our seasons of waiting, we turn our eyes upon Jesus, the author and perfector of our faith, we will ultimately become grateful, joyful, peaceful, and closer to Him. We will know He alone is able. We will know He alone is willing. He alone is true. He alone is faithful.

He alone is God.

It is rather impossible to know God and seek Him continually, and then to not be grateful to the core for who He is. It truly is not even about what He has done or hasn't done, and it's also not even about what He can do (which is anything and everything good, by the way). It's about who He is. He is good. He is powerful. He is true. He is certain. He is all. He deserves utmost thanksgiving for that alone.

Pause, and reflect…

In this current season, what areas of life have you looking inward, licking your own wounds, wanting vengeance, or thinking you can do anything by your own means? What areas have you looking inward and not upward?

And what areas of your life in this current season have you looking outward, seeing what others have received but not yourself, or thinking hope is lost? What has you looking outward and not upward?

Here's a thought: the devil, as horrible as he is, exudes patience. I dare you to try to outlast him while you wait for whatever it is you are trusting God for. What does the Bible say about those who wait on the Lord? They will soar on wings like eagles. Is it any coincidence that the devil first appeared as a snake and that an eagle preys on such creatures?

Whatever you're waiting for, however long it's been, however shoddy the outlook seems... strive to be thankful. Thankfulness is the one thing you can give, even when stripped of all else. Wait on the Lord, friends. He is not one to leave His sheep without. And while you’re waiting, look up. Focus your thoughts on Him. Praise Him. Thank Him. Exalt Him. He alone is your sustenance. Anything He promises is just extra.

And perhaps, the miracle is just waiting on you.

"Lord, I know you are true. I know you care about me. I know you hear the fervent prayer of a righteous man, and I have been made righteous by the blood of Christ Jesus. So in Jesus's name, Lord, I THANK YOU for what you have promised, and I thank you for coming through. Thank you for allowing me to be a vessel for the advancement of Your kingdom. I praise you as I wait for the day when I will see the cry of my heart come to fruition, and even if I shall see you before I see that day, I thank you for protecting me, for keeping me, and for loving me all the days of my life. You alone are all I have. You alone are all I need. Thank you for being mine and for choosing me too. I thank you for who you are, for all you've done, and for all you're doing. In Jesus's name, Amen."
